About
Over the last few years Arizona has moved the ball tremendously when it comes to assisting Veterans. We have more resources for mental health, resources for veterans who have been incarcerated, resources for veterans who are homeless and resources to help Veterans get employed. Veteran support has always been at the front and mostly everyone is willing to help in some form.
However, all the great resources mentioned above seam to become non existent at night. When the 5 o’clock hour/weekend hits, resources are mostly closed and Veterans are left to fend for themselves. Several organizations have stated this needs to be fixed and are looking for ways to help solve this problem.
Veterans 5-9 is creating a new approach to bring resources together to help tackle this problem. Veterans 5-9 will partner with various ground level organizations to help accomplish the mission. All of our Partners have a wealth of resources and talented members ready to accomplish the mission.
WHO WE SERVE
Veterans 5-9 plans to serve Veterans of all ages and those cities/counties looking to improve veteran resources at night and on the weekend. We will focus on first helping those Veterans in a crisis at night or the weekend. We will attempt to provide resources such as transportation, lodging, food, toiletries, substance abuse assistance and comprehensive follow up to improve the Veterans quality of life. Follow up is key for Veterans 5-9 to ensure the Veteran has a strong support group. Veterans 5-9 will also reach out to those Veterans who are getting out of the Military. Veterans 5-9 is working on a plan to assist Veterans who are utilizing the skill bridge program and coming to Arizona. We will provide these Veterans with a safety net so they don’t end up homeless, incarcerated or worse committing suicide.
FUTURE GOAL
We as a Nation should continue to serve those who have served us in the past, present and future. Veterans 5-9 goal is to see night and weekend Veteran resources grow by the city, county, state and eventually nation wide.
